The Doctors

Dr. Robert Rothstein is the founder of Eyenamics NY

Dr. Robert Rothstein is the founder of Eyenamics NY. Dr. Rothstein is a board certified Ophthalmologist specializing in Glaucoma, Neuro-ophthalmology, and Cataract, Surgery. A native New Yorker, Dr. Rothstein went to Stuyvesant High School. He completed the prestigious combined BA/MD program at Brooklyn College and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He finished his ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He went on to complete two fellowships, the first at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary specializing in glaucoma under the supervision of Dr. Robert Ritch and Dr. Jeffrey Liebmann and the second at SUNY Downstate Medical Center specializing in neuro-ophthalmology under the tutelage of Dr. Arthur H. Wolintz.

Dr. Rothstein has trained ophthalmology residents at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and has taught optometry students at the SUNY College of Optometry. He is an attending surgeon at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Rothstein is a member of the New York Glaucoma Society, the American Glaucoma Society, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Rothstein has cutting edge expertise in neuro-ophthalmology. He has a multidisciplinary approach and coordinates care with experts in the fields of neurology, neurosurgery, oculoplastic surgery, neuroradiology, interventional neuroradiology, endocrinology and rheumatology. He has over twenty years of experience in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and he continues to integrate the newest modalities of treatment in his practice. Dr. Rothstein also specializes in cataract surgery offering the state of the art in care including femtosecond assisted cataract surgery and premium intraocular lenses.

Dr. Rothstein is fluent in Hebrew and Hungarian. He has interests in comparative religion and theology, liturgical music, and political philosophy and history. When he’s not practicing ophthalmology, he spends his time sketching and drawing.

Dr. Kim Staiman Rothstein is an Optometrist specializing in Ocular Disease and Pathology

Dr. Kim Staiman Rothstein is an Optometrist specializing in Ocular Disease and Pathology. She graduated cum laude from Queens College and was the valedictorian of her class at SUNY College of Optometry where she received her Doctorate in Optometry. She finished her residency in Ocular Disease at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System where she learned a multi-disciplinary approach in the management of ocular conditions with systemic manifestations.

Dr. Staiman Rothstein was an Assistant Clinical Professor at SUNY College of Optometry for fifteen years where she taught Optometry students and residents in Ocular Disease and Primary Care. Dr. Staiman Rothstein has over twenty years of experience in the treatment of glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmic disease, comprehensive eyecare, and the preoperative and postoperative management of cataracts.

Dr. Staiman Rothstein is also fluent in Hebrew.

Dr. Shelby Kruse is board certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry

Dr. Shelby Kruse is board certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Kruse received her Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN where she was awarded the Outstanding Clinician Award. Dr. Kruse then completed a residency in ocular disease and primary eye care at BronxCare Health System in Bronx, NY. In optometry school, Dr. Kruse served as the National Secretary of the American Optometric Association, a Student Ambassador and Vice President of the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society. She was also involved in Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) serving as a student doctor on four medical mission trips.

Dr. Kruse has multiple published posters and papers and enjoys giving continuing education lectures. As a student, she completed internships at Omaha Eye and Laser Institute in Omaha, NE and Coastal Vision Center in Fernandina Beach, FL. Dr. Kruse is originally from Lincoln, NE and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she studied Nutrition Science and Psychology. She enjoys cheering on the Huskers, running and exploring new cities.
